Position Qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant
Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Qualified Post basic Pharmacist Assistant in the pharmacy at Life The Crompton Hospital, reporting to the Senior pharmacist. The job entails the professional supply of medication to patients, wards and theatre, as well as the procurement and handling of ethical and surgical stock.Critical Outputs
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Perform duties as per scope of practice of a post basic pharmacist assistant under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Ordering of ethical stock.
- Processing of hospital prescriptions, retail prescriptions and credits.
- Issuing of ethical stock to wards and theatre.
- Replenishing the emergency cupboard.
- Unpacking stock, checking expiries and reconciling invoices.
- Active involvement in stock-takes and cycle counts with variance investigations.
- Implementing and maintaining the LHC formulary.
- Dead stock and short dated stock management.
- Handling queries from relevant stakeholders.
- Any other task that the line manager may deem necessary for the efficient operation of the pharmacy
Requirements
- Qualification as a post basic pharmacist assistant and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- A working knowledge of Impilo and SAP will be an advantage.
- Good organisational skills are essential as well as attention to detail.

- The successful candidate will be required to work weekday shifts from 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm on a rotational basis and to also work over weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
